Check out www.volunteernepal.com to take a peek at the organization I'll be teaching & volunteering for on my trip. The founder, Michael, has a passion for helping all of Nepal's children, but especially the girls, who are frequently sold into the slave/sex trade by their parents due to extreme poverty. I'm hoping to work in the girls' home and teach at their school in the day, but I'm keeping an open mind since I won't choose a placement until I've had a few days of cultural "training" and become more comfortable with the language.
Check out the volunteer journals, I will most likely be placed fairly close to Kathmandu since my stay will be relatively short (for a teacher, anyway) but they'll give you an idea of what my trip might entail.
